ArtCAM Insignia is a powerful software program designed to allow you to route or engrave stunning products directly from 2D vector artwork quicker than you ever thought possible.

New features in the latest version include 2D view solid colour toolpath simulation, manual toolpath list ordering, more vector trimming tools, new options for envelope distortion that allow curves to be used to control the shape, and the facility to rejoin vector shapes after exploding and trimming.

ArtCAM Insignia has been designed to maximize productivity from a CNC router. An example of this is the “True Shape Nesting”, which automatically nests vector shapes into a user definable block of material, minimizing material wastage when the shapes are routed out. It also calculates the boundary left after cutting, so more jobs can be nested and cut from the leftover material.

Insignia’s powerful and flexible machining strategies include – raised 3D bevel carving, cut-outs with control over start point, lead-in / out, final pass clean up and tabs for holding parts in place. Smart engraving and pocketing with multiple tools ensure that the smaller tool only cuts where necessary. Fully automatic in-lay and insert strategies ensure that parts always fit into the associated pockets, regardless of their shape and complexity.

Even though ArtCAM Insignia has become established among the most popular software packages for the woodworking, signmaking and engraving industries, Product Manager Tony McKenzie is convinced that many more companies could be taking advantage of the system’s benefits. “Many people working in these traditional industries are still nervous about moving into computerised CNC manufacturing,” he said. “With the free version of the software, they will be able to experiment with CADCAM techniques without any financial risk.”
