Delcam’s PowerINSPECT inspection software has received certification for use throughout Russian industry following extensive tests in the State Unitary Enterprise “VNIIM D.I. Mendeleyev” laboratory of metrology. The certification, to the Russian Standard MI 2174-91, confirms that the software conforms to the required standards of accuracy and repeatability when used to inspect tooling, prototypes or components against CAD data.

The software was tested in accordance with ISO/FDIS Standard 10360-2 for the measurement of geometric elements. The types of inspection assessed included straight parallel end measurements of length, measurements of external and internal diameter of cylinders, and measurement of conic and triangular prismatic shapes.

Mendeleyev all-Russia science/research institute of metrology is the successor of the Main Chamber of Weights and Measures, the first state metrological institution in Russia and one of the oldest in the world. Today VNIIM is one of the largest world centres of scientific and practical metrology, as well as being the main centre of state standards of Russia and the leading organisation in the country for fundamental research in metrology.
